Embodying the Spine | A Backbending Workshop w. Kevin | April 23rd, 2 - 4 pm
In this workshop, you will learn the foundations of backbending with a therapeutic approach for the low back. Backbends can feel challenging for many, and for some, they may seem even impossible. There is so much focus that needs to be placed on the inner self, and this can be a frightening experience for some.
The spine holds past traumas we may have experienced, some without even being aware of them. When we begin to accept the parts of ourselves that we're ashamed of or resist, we open up more internal space. As we open up the back body, we open the back of our hearts creating an emotional response. This offers healing and presence.
Backbends require us to open our heart centre; both the front and back of the heart. This is our energy centre in the body where our feelings, self-trust and love reside.
Come learn not only how to make backbends accessible for your body, but also how to strengthen your spine and increase your flexibility; all while adapting for your own body structure. Move beyond obstacles to create free flowing movement in your spine.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of Yoga practitioners.
